The lake, formed by the biggest hydroelectric in the world, Itaipu, with 170 Km of extension, links 16 cities what allows various points for fishing in the lake.
Fishing in the region
There are two kinds of Tucunaré in the region, the yellow Tucunaré and the blue one. Specimens over three kilograms are rare, most are between one and tow kilograms. The kind of fishing we have is bait casting.
Baits
As to the artificial baits, surface and half water plugs, spoons and jigs between 6 and 10 cm can be used.
Supplies:
Medium, fast or extra fast rods , for lines of until 17 to 20 pounds and 5.3’ to 6’ length line and reel (collection 5:1 or more) compatible with the rod. Colorful and elastic lines allow more precision of casting. Leader of bigger diameter and transparent and snap are essential.
Seasons
It’s possible to fish Tucunaré all year. From September to November the fishes gather in shoals for reproduction, being this the best time of the year for capture. In the months of April to August (winter) the capture is subject to the weather, the cold weather can jeopardize the fishing. The depth varies from 1 to 3 meters.
