
The Furnas Substation in Foz do Iguaçu was created in 1957 and it is the Itaipu´s energy transmitter. It is based on a challenge of overcoming the electrical energy supply crisis operating a big energy powerplant which is Itaipu Binational.
In Furnas you can find two substations: the Conversora and Elevadora. They form one of the biggest of the world in power and dimension.
Furnas is opened to visitation, has got a Visitor´s Center where people can watch technical films about the company and about Furnas´ projects to transmit the energy generated by Itaipu which has got an elevated capacity of transmission.
Working hours: from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m to 4h30 p.m.
