Eco Museum in Iguassu Falls

The whole history of Itaipu, The Hydroelectric Power Plant, and the region, is registered and well-kept in the Eco Museum of Itaipu.

An exhibit that is renewed each day is what appeals to thousands of tourists coming to the Museum, a place that excites and inform at the same time. In addition to all the history that the Museum preserves, it also displays models and archaeological and paleontological sceneries related to the past of the region.

The visitor travels within time while he takes the tour in the Museum. There are several representations that go from the beginning of the occupation of the site where the power plant was to be built, to the projects designed by Itaipu for the conservation of the environment. All this blended with technology interacting with the tourist, like the electronic totems that are interactive and computerised, which together with the screens the showcase the projects of environmental preservation, making the experience yet more interesting.

What’s more, a replica of the axis of one of the turbines in activity, whose sound can be heard, is the highest point of the tour.

Opening Times: from Tuesdays to Sundays, from 08.30 to 17.30

Observation: It is also possible to make a combined visit to both Itaipu Power Plant and Eco Museum.
